So, where are we now?

Somewhere near Amoy Food Court, a cafe called My Awesome Cafe.

Yeah...it kinda makes me confused at first but it turns out to be a cafe. Looks can be deceptive I guess. The guy sitting at that corner seems to be the owner so I don't think this cafe serves Chinese food in the cafe.

Busted! Okay, you got me. This was actually a Saturday in...a couple months ago. I don't know I can't remember.



Oh my gawd, it must be Christmas! See those Christmas decorations!

Yikes! Okay fine fine! It was a Saturday in December 2015. Happy??? Geez.

Tsk. At least you are still coming out from your house. So how's the place?

Quaint little cafe in Telok Ayer street, a hipster street filled with shop houses at your left and right hand. Perfect to come alone here on a Saturday (at least for me). I think it's nice to sip a coffee here alone on a weekday too but do avoid lunch hours. The Muffinry has seating upstairs and downstairs. If you prefer less people walking around here and there beside you, go for the seats upstairs.

How's the coffee? 

I think the barista put way too much chocolate in my mocha (S$6) but I am not really a coffee drinker so yeah, I don't mind it at all. If you really love your coffee, you probably have to tell the barista beforehand not to put so much chocolate in your mocha.

Oh hey ya! Eating by yourself again?

Nah, I'm eating with my number one. Myself.

There is this nice little cafe at level 2 (or 3? oh gosh, I can't remember) of Chevron House. I was pretty early and manage to secure a seat for myself.

How's the place?

I like Joe and Dough. The cafe is not big so there can't be too many people flocking. I need to share a table with fellow solo-eater during busy times though. But I don't mind. We mind our own business anyway. Singaporean is so cool (assuming the other solo eater is Singaporean).

...and the food?

Initially I thought Joe and Dough only serves coffee but turns out they serve light meals too. I enjoyed my simple ham croissant and scrambled egg. Not sure if they are still serving it now though. Their menu change pretty often. 

Where do you eat alone?

That day, I could go out before 12 and hence, I used the chance to try lunching alone at Wheat Baumkuchen at the basement level of One Raffles Place (which is linked to the MRT). Dining in (alone or not) at Wheat Baumkuchen on a weekday lunchtime can be a big challenge to fulfil, especially if you can only make it out of your office after 12PM.

How did it go?

You totally don't have to feel so conscious about eating alone at Wheat Baumkuchen. A lot of other people (usually office workers) are doing the same. I guess Raffles Place is not a big test for people who love to eat by his or herself. You can't sit here for a long time though as there will be a lot of hawk eyes looking at your plate and start murmuring "why this person is not leaving yet when he/ she has finished eating?". Oh well, the beauty of lunch mad-rush at Raffles Place.

How about the food?

Wheat Baumkuchen is known as a Japanese inspired salad and noodle bar. I don't really agree though because I don't think Wheat Baumkuchen sells any salad (apart from tofu salad I guess). One thing that I noticed is the name of the menu is so funny. You can basically eat Reindeer, Penguin, Whale and even, Polar Bear. O_O. [please don't report them to PETA, it's just the name, the meat served comes from acceptable animals. XD]. 

Lazy to make appointment. I guess this will be the most classic excuse I whip out everytime someone spot me eating alone on a weekday lunchtime. 

What usually happens today:

I am currently renting a room and staying with a landlord. While the landlord is a lovely lady with her lovely mum, there's bound to be something...some habits that you won't really like when you live with someone. And of course, you have to be able to accept that in order to ensure peaceful cohabit lifestyle with your landlord. Every Sunday's night, the big family of my landlord will come over to the house for a family dinner. While I don't usually mind this on normal Sunday when I serve at the church (and hence, not at home from 5PM to at least 9.30PM when the dinner is surely over by then), I do mind this when I enjoy my off-day from serving at church. The house will be somewhat smelly (my landlord loves to cook for family) and noisy (well, there is at least 10 people in the living room chatting away). This is a torture for me really even though I can just stay in my room doing my own stuff.

What happened today: 

Today is one of the off-days that I have from serving in the church. My friend and I hanged out since the afternoon but we ran out of things to do when the clock just reached 7.30PM. While I don't want to force my friend to hand out with me further (and spend more money), I was kinda reluctant to go home that early too since I know well that the house will so noisy by this hour. But, when I reached home, there was no family dinner today. I guess today happened to be one of those nights when they decided to eat out together as a family in the afternoon. You can't imagine how grateful and joyful I was feeling. 

Lesson learnt:

I probably did casually mention about this during one of my prayer to God. But I never really pray hard for it to happen. More like que sera sera thing (i.e what will be will be). But Daddy God is really our Father in Heaven and he knows best what we enjoy the most in life. Even, this introvert side of mine (which I guess not even that important to my own mother). Nothing is too big or too small for Daddy God. If you have something in mind which you think is too small for Him to care, you may want to change that mindset and just tell Him basically everything. After all, He loves me and you.
