My Random Daily Life

Sometimes, you forget what you have just by seeing what other people have. People having good relationship, people having better wealth, people travelling all the time, people having cute pets, people having babies, people who are famous, people who seems to be favored by other people. The list is endless. To be honest, thinking about "why can't I be like that? why can't I have that" is like poisoning oneself. Thinking without action will not bring anything after all.

But our brain. Sometimes refuse to stop thinking huh. 

If you really have to think, probably it is better to think about all the good things that you have. The fact that you are still breathing, that you are healthy, that you are in the comfort of your bedroom, that you are able to travel (even though it may not be to the place that you desire yet), that you can eat good food. Those things which we may have taken for granted could be difficult and near-impossible for some people out there. Gratitude after all is the beginning of happiness.

One thing that I feel quite sullen now that I have the number "3" plastered in front of my age is the face that a lot of people start to show concerns about my (or the lack of) love life. I am not even talking about my Mum here. Or my younger brother. And these two people sum up the direct family members which I have in this lifetime. 

Gone is the day where I can be accepted not having companion (even when I still feel perfectly fine about it, at least for now). A lot of people suggesting that I should "go out more" which in my defence, I do on daily basis. I mean, I surely won't be able to sustain the high cost of living in Singapore if I don't go out of my rented room, now, will I? (oops, sarcasm leaked). 

Anyway to make the point that I did go out from my room, let's keep a journey log (like what the vault dweller in Fallout Shelter do when they went out on a expedition to Wasteland) starting today, the 12th of July 2016. (oops, another habit leaked, game apps addict).

7.15: another new day, but I am gonna snooze

7.50: finally awake, otherwise, I won't make it to office before 9

9 - 11.50: A day at office which I'm gonna refer to as Shinra Inc. (too bad the only guy in my team does not look as cool as Rufus) #imissthisgamesobad

Lunchtime: recharged with a bowl of Korean Bibimbap (it's so good oh my gawd). My pal is applying for an opportunity in Melbourne. Rooting for her but I'm sure I'm gonna be sad if she get it too. #stillrootingforheranyway

14.00 - 14.30: My Tinder got hijacked by a few curious co-workers. Click the "Like" (or is it "super-like"? I can never tell) button on certain random guys. I feel like shooting myself in the head but turn out I got 4 matches. #weirdsenseofsatisfaction

15.15: A match messaged me. Oh my gawd, is this real?

15.30 - 17.30: aiming to be employee-of-the-month of Shinra Inc (Rufus is gonna be so pleased)

17.35: A co-worker nudge me to remind me not to leave that one particular match in the cold.

17.40: reply grudgingly

17.50 - 19.00: shit, I'll never gonna finish this work

20.00: finally left Shinra Inc.

20.30: popping by Bugis Junction, found a great 30% off deal for sushi at Cold Storage. score the last tamago inari. Win!

21.00: finally reach home 

21.10: realised that one of the matches decided to unmatch me. Whatever.

21.15: the tamago inari taste so damn good. perfect companion while watching episode 7 of Doctors.

It is not that easy to find a halal restaurant in Singapore, although it's relatively easier if you compare the situation to other countries like Taiwan or Hong Kong. Sometimes the biggest challenge is you are not sure if the restaurant is using pork-free ingredients in the preparation of the meals even let's say it is a vegetarian restaurant or seafood restaurant. If you are having this difficulty when you want to eat in Telok Ayer area, look no more than Royz et Vous Specialty Cafe.

Before we know it, Robot Kitty is coming to Singapore the day after tomorrow. Kyaa!!! Aren't you guys excited for the cute robot? Right, this post happens to cover the last portion of Sanrio Robotics Institute, where Robot Kitty is developed and created. So, yeah, this is the most important area in Sanrio Robotics Institute, the Lab.

Right, judging from the name, I should have known I probably should not have eating alone at Monster Curry. But there is queue everywhere else and I lazy to queue...hahaha. 

Lie, you were initially going for Cafe Benne...

Oh hello, you sarcasm-me. I did want to go to Cafe Benne but they were having some problem with the system and hence refusing entry for all customers. Bah. 

And there is no queue at Monster Curry. Hehe.

Okay, fine. So how big is this Monster Curry?

For a start, the plate is big but portion wise...I think it turns out to be pretty much, okay? Omg, I am probably a glutton. Oh by the way, this cheese chicken curry cutlet is good, yum. 

Ah funny stare, what we, the solo-diners, dread the most. Thankfully everybody is too busy digging into their curry (including myself) so I consider Monster Curry as an okay place for solo-diners. You are not expected to linger and chill around after your meal though, especially if the queue has formed outside the restaurant. 

Human tend to look for the mighty, the powerful, the wise whenever they are faced with a challenge. It is so easy to think that we can't do it when we feel we don't have enough capability to handle the challenge. But, that's not what God thinks. There are 4 stories in the Bible where God use what the world considers weak, foolish and even useless to do extraordinary things. 

(1) Moses' rod

Moses performed a lot of miracles (including splitting the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross) with a simple rod. And with the same rod, he confounded the might of Pharaoh.

(2) The little boy's five loaves and two fish

With this little boy's humble lunch, Jesus fed 5,000 men (plus women and children which number is not even counted), and his disciples gathered 12 baskets full of leftovers. This is one heck of a buffet. 

(3) The jawbone of an ass

Samson slew a thousand Philistines, who were the enemies of God's people with a mere jawbone. The movie 300 does not seem so extraordinary anymore compared to God's works in Samson. 

(4) Five stones and a sling

David, the shepherd boy, brought down Goliath with five stones and a sling. Mind you, Goliath is a giant and the mightiest Philistine champion during those days.

One thing that you can develop from your visit at Robot Kitty is definitely your creativity aspect. If you buy the Robot Kitty, you will be given a chance to decorate your robot kitty with a unique component and that's why a visit to the component department is very important here. 

I decided to write this post after I heard the same comment again and again from my married friends. Oh right, for your information, I am still single so yeah, this sound like an advice from the married friends. Both of them saying that I should do whatever I want (including chasing my dream) right now before I get married. I don't know why but I can't help but feeling something is not really right about this. But, I guess the reasons of why these lovely married people decide to give up or postpone chasing their dream are not really different from my reason as a single person:

1. Monetary constraint

There are simply more important things to pay in our life at the moment. Mortgage is the biggest killer I suppose. And while my friend really wants to pursue her passion in theatre, from her hubby's point of view, he may feel very insecure if his wife pursuing this passion (which of course, comes with money spent, ka-ching) instead of earning extra money. The hubby hasn't asked her to share the burden of the mortgage yet, so I guess he's just trying to a safety net for both of them (in case he's being let off, etc). Sad, but money is kinda a bitch here. 

2. Time constraint

If our dream must be learnt not by doing 9 - 6 job, that means we have to allocate extra time to learn it. But what if we have children to take care of once we reach our home everyday? This will cut your me-time considerably and hence, pose a time constraint for you to learn the necessary skill to chase your dream. 

3. Energy constraint

You simply don't feel that you have enough strength to do what you dream about maybe 10 years ago. This may be applicable when your dream involves some physical activity like fitness instructor. 

Despite the constraints, I don't think dreams should say stagnant nor that they will die down easily. But, I guess it will be hard to keep the passion hot if the person who stay beside you all the time (i.e. your life partner) discourage you every time you talk about it. Maybe I should really do what I want to do now while I don't really have any constraint or find someone who will support my dream, no matter how silly they may sound. =P

Hello! How is everybody's Thursday? Weekend is just around the corner and soon it will be the opening day for Robot Kitty event at Suntec on 11th June. Continuing on our journey in Robot Kitty exhibition, we have finally arrived at the Quality Control section of Sanrio Robotics Institute (SRI).

Good morning! I know that soon it will be noon but now it's still 11AM so I can still say good morning. So, what have you done so far? I will enjoy the rest of these few hours (at least until church volunteering time) to replenish my energy which is totally drained yesterday.

1. Blame in on the personality

I guess this is where extrovert-introvert character plays out. Some people may have a different tolerance level toward socialising and networking. For instance those who have more extrovert genes in their trait would relatively last longer socialising because they don't get drained from talking to people. In fact, some of them even got energised talking to different people. Whereby, those who lean toward the introvert characteristic would behave the other way around as they tend to get energised from spending time along with their thoughts and interests.

2. Different level of experience

Socialising is after all, a skill for survival. If you are born in a family which is not very social (e.g. not very interested to come to neighbour's kids birthday party or big family social gathering), you will be more likely to have a lower level of experience in socialising.  This experience does not have to cater to a socialising in general. The people who you will socialise with matters too. For example, someone may have no problem hanging out with their close buddies but get fatigues really quickly at a hectic office party as they are not as used to the latter.

3. Anxiety in social situations

Being nervous is physically and mentally draining too just by itself. People who force themselves to be in situations where their anxiety appears, will obviously get pretty much drained after the whole affair. It's like being forced out of your comfort zone. I don't mean that it's bad literally. I mean we are human which is social creature, by nature, so it's good to face our fear once in a while, I guess? I would probably do this to myself once every quarter. 4x a year is more than enough for my tolerance level. XD

Hello all! Let's continue our journey in Sanrio Robotics Institute, shall we? To recap, we have gotten our pass, learned the basic skill of robotic (yeah, right) and checking out the map of the institute. In order to make a Robot Kitty, we need to get the components made. So let's continue to the section where the components are made. The one in-charge for the creation of the components is none other than or friends, Bad Badzt Maru, which happens to be my favourite Sanrio character. <3

School holiday has finally started and it is the time for parents to think of activities or holidays for their kids. If you have booked your flight outside Singapore, well, good for you I suppose. If you decided to stay in Singapore, no worries because apparently the city is pretty much happening in June. One of the main attraction for kids is the Robot Kitty event happening in Suntec from 11 June to 21 June. If you are still considering of whether to bring your kids here or not, I guess I can share a few things since I happened to visit the same event in Taipei three years ago (aww, how nostalgic!). Let's be a Robot Kitty engineer, people!

1. Go get your ticket

Tickets are priced at $28 for adults and $14 for children age 3 to 11/ senior citizens. The ticket is super duper cute and it is a must to keep as Hello Kitty fans. <3

2. Wait for your turn at Sanrio Robotics Institute

I don't know why but I tend to get pretty creative at two times a day, late at night and early morning. The problem with being creative late at night, my creativity does not last long because I get so sleepy after a while. Thanks to you, daily job (uhm yeah, I don't really like my job but it pays so..). It's kinda different in the morning because you tend to be fresher (thanks, morning air and morning coffee) and you can produce so much more inspiration in the morning (especially early morning). 

3. New day, new decision

Since morning is supposed to be the brightest time for our well-rested brain, it can be a good time to make decision (or at least, thinking about it) for those unresolved matters that keep circling around our life. We may not have the decision immediately but thinking about it in the morning may bring some fresh insight and new progress. Don't forget your breakfast while thinking about this. A happy day starts with happy breakfast, after all.
