Wandering alone in Taipei: 228 Peace Memorial Park
228 Peace Memorial Park is a historic park built in the middle of the city. It is located near National Taiwan University Hospital. The park is quite nice to wander alone if you have spare time to kill in Taipei.
I visited the park around 5ish in the evening on a summer day. There were not so many people walking around but 30 minutes after, the park is brimmed with office workers as they are leaving the nearby office buildings.
In the middle of the park lies the 228 Massacre Monument, which is designed by Taiwanese architect, Cheng Tsu Tsai. The Monument is inscribed with words asking for peace and unity between the Taiwanese and the mainlanders (i.e. people from China).
On the ground, the Chinese characters for peace "和平" (HépÃng) is written.
After a few steps of wandering into the park, I spotted a lavender field. I quite like the color of the lavender. <3
On the right side of the park, there is a small Chinese gazebo with a statue of deity inside. A typical Taiwanese garden.
How to go to 228 Peace Memorial Park:
Take the MRT to National Taiwan University Hospital Station. The park is located at one of the exit of the MRT. A map of the exits is available in the MRT.
